In honor of our newly redesigned Guild (and honestly, what better thing to do with a designer guild than reDESIGN it?), we are pleased to announce, “Princess Kisses”. We’ll announce search terms as the date approaches!
Today I tried my hand at something I’ve never attempted. Cardmaking. In the interest of full disclosure, our local store didn’t have any nice plain white cards so I had to start with a printed card. I chose a bubble gum pink. I had no idea what I was doing and tried to make them look as fun and frisky as possible at first. I quit. I immediately switched to making cards that I’d love to send myself even if they were simple and unpretentious. So, for the record, each package of these cards has one or two cards that are not my favorites but I included them to prove to the world that I can swallow my pride every now and then.
There are two sets of Valentine’s Day cards (10 per package) and will be given as “Thank You” prizes in a random drawing of everyone who signs up for the Mailing List. Get your subscription today!
In the spirit of fresh starts and New Year’s Resolutions, we’d love to share with you the exciting new things we have designed for The Guild.
We’ve struggled for years to find the right name that fit both our collective personalities and the direction we wanted to take our group. We think we’ve finally found it. Thanks to prior sale on the wide world web, “The Guild” was taken as a domain name so we settled for www.guildcollection.com . The Guild Collection will be our eventual name once someone in Zaire or some place like that loses it in June. We’re excited about these changes and look forward to sharing them with you.
As you can see, our website is revamped and soon you’ll be able to find a one-stop shopping experience with The Guild. Instead of a traditional newsletter, we’ve opted to utilize this blog as our main means of sharing information about us and what we are doing. We will send emails to notify you of launches, new listings, sneak previews and more but please add us to your bloglines for frequent updates about us and what we have to offer. We’ll occasionally offer gifts, prizes, and hold contests to our blog readers so come on and join the party!
The New Year is associated with more than just new beginnings. Traditionally, people make resolutions for what they intend to achieve or accomplish during that year. We at The Guild are determined to “Have a GREAT 2008.” I’d like to share my personal business resolutions in this year.
In practical terms, that means I want to stop my recent spurt and sputter method of listing on eBay. I have had the tendency in the past two years to list quite a few things in a row and then do nothing for weeks at a time. One item a week is my minimum goal and I’d like to be in the “swing of things” by Jan 31.
I tend to feel bullied into making what others want me to make rather than what I love to make most. I don’t have an ‘eye’ for following trends. I’ve always been fairly eclectic and it’s time for me to step up and embrace that again.
Finally, for whatever reason, I’ve grown to dislike making customs. I feel trapped and smothered by them whereas in years past they were my preference. So, I’ve decided to do what I call a “Chautona Custom.” This is a no obligation order in which I receive measurements and create the ensemble before I accept payment. Upon completion I’ll invoice, the customer pays, and the garments are shipped immediately.
